New York, NY – On the fifth anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, the New York Immigration Coalition will join its partners and immigrant New Yorkers to demand an end to discriminatory attacks on undocumented immigrant communities. Immigration advocates rally near Trump Tower on August 15, 2017; to demand Administration uphold programs that protect 1.2 million people from deportation

DACA and TPS are under attack, unprecedentedly and publicly putting immigrant communities under attack.

More than 800,000 young people may lose protection from deportation due to a demand made by ten attorneys general in June. Neither the White House nor the Justice Department have said whether they’ll defend the DACA program that’s set to be challenged in court unless the administration rescinds it by Sept. 5.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has provided over 350,000 people relief from countries experiencing humanitarian crises by granting them work permits and allowing them to live in the United States without the threat of deportation. The Department of Homeland Security has not said for certain that they will continue the program.
