People’s Filibuster Rally in Lower Manhattan to Demand Democrats Filibuster Neil Gorsuch Supreme Court nomination
New York – On April 1, 2017; two days before the Senate Judiciary Committee votes on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch, progressive leaders and activists will rally at Foley Square in New York City and in cities across the country to call on the senate to oppose President Trump’s dangerous agenda, and use every tool in their arsenal to demand opposition to his Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
This event, organized by the Working Families Party and dozens of groups who are part of the People’s Defense campaign, will take place in New York City and will feature progressive leaders and everyday Americans speaking about why #WeObject to President Trump’s radical agenda and his selection of Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, who reliably sides with corporations and the powerful over ordinary people. With issues from women’s rights, dark money in politics and Trump’s Muslim ban all on the line, we cannot allow Gorsuch to be confirmed for a lifetime appointment. Over the last month, the People’s Defense has delivered one million petition signatures to all 100 senators which called on them to oppose Gorsuch, rolled out a six-figure digital ad campaign, and mobilized on social media to gather support for the coalition.
